The Jaguars traveled across the country this weekend to face the Seattle Seahawks at

Lumen Field. The Jags came off their bye week rested and (one would think) ready to get another win. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Instead, the Jags came out incredibly flat against the Seahawks and looked putrid in essentially every area of the game as they lost 31-7.
Offensively, they could not get things going as they did not score until after the two-minute warning in the 4th quarter. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence was 32/54 for 238 yards and one touchdown and an interception as well. However, he did not have much help as the Seattle defensive front gave the Jags fits all day and gave Lawrence hardly any time to make things happen.
Defensively, one could argue it was even worse. Seattle’s QB Geno Smith was perfect on his first 12 attempts and ultimately finished 20/24 for 195 yards and two touchdowns. While the stats seem tame, the visual product on the field was not. There was just a feeling the entire game that the Jaguars were not going to hang with the depleted Seahawks offense that was missing its starting quarterback and running back.
This game couldn’t have gone much worse than it did for the Jaguars. Overall, the Jags committed 12 penalties on the day, a sign that preparation is still an issue for the coaching staff. These penalties were “too many men in the huddle,” and “illegal formations,” and “false starts” mainly, which signifies a lack of discipline and preparation from the coaching staff.
We’ve seen the Jaguars improve every week before this game, so it seemed a little confusing to see them regress so much after a bye week. That begs the question: what were they doing these past two weeks? Did they prepare at all? It sure didn’t seem like it, and they face their most difficult challenge yet next Sunday when the Buffalo Bills come to town.
